A Stroll Along Druridge Bay

Decided to take a bracing stroll along the sands at Druridge Bay in Northumberland a couple of days ago.

I'm intending to walk the Northumberland Coastal Path this summer. It's a 64 mile trek, so It'll take four or five days to complete.

Now my youngest brother has decided to join me so we've been doing a series of training hikes, with full backpacks, just to get a feel for the weight, its effect on our bodies, and the terrain. Neither of us are spring chicks (both in our 60's - him early, me late) and it's many years since either of us has trudged miles with survival-level supplies strapped to our backs.

On this occasion we opted to do a sand-walk, which is tiring with heavyweight packs. It just so happens that the day we chose was one of the coldest of the winter, and the one day in forever that snow has actually settled on the north east coastline.

Here's a few snaps of snow at sea-level on one of the wildest and most beautiful areas of the English coastline.

If you ever get the opportunity, visit this part of the world. You will not regret it!

Cheers, Rowan.
